Happy Chhath Puja To All MDC Family

Chhath Puja is one of the most important Hindu festivals, especially celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal. It’s dedicated to the Sun God (Surya) and Chhathi Maiya, who is believed to be the sister of the Sun God. The festival expresses gratitude for sustaining life on Earth and seeks blessings for health, prosperity, and abundance. πŸŒžπŸ™

  • Chhath Puja honors Surya Dev for sustaining life and granting energy.

  • Devotees also worship Chhathi Maiya, believed to protect children and grant wishes.

πŸ“… Duration & Rituals:

Chhath Puja lasts four days, usually in October or November, after Diwali.

  1. Day 1 – Nahay Khay:
    Devotees take a holy dip and prepare pure vegetarian food to begin the fast.

  2. Day 2 – Kharna:
    A full-day fast ends after sunset with offerings of kheer (rice pudding), fruits, and jaggery.

  3. Day 3 – Sandhya Arghya (Evening Offering):
    Devotees gather near rivers or ponds to offer arghya (water) to the setting sun.

  4. Day 4 – Usha Arghya (Morning Offering):
    Devotees offer prayers to the rising sun, ending their fast and concluding the puja.

  • Thekua (sweet wheat flour cookies)

  • Sugarcane, coconut, bananas, and fruits

  • Rice and jaggery delicacies
