How to Read Tokenomics on BscScan

Reading tokenomics on BscScan is crucial if you’re evaluating a token on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) — whether for research, investing, or due diligence. While BscScan doesn’t always show a full “tokenomics” breakdown (like you’d find in a whitepaper), it does give you critical on-chain data that helps you infer a token’s structure.

🔍 Step-by-Step Guide to Reading Tokenomics on BscScan

✅ 1. Search for the Token

  • Go to: https://bscscan.com

  • In the search bar, type the token name (Meta Dollar Coin), symbol (MDC), or contract address (0x69bf422871e3df997069f885475c06821cf4d381)

  • Click on the correct token from the results.

✅ 2. Check the Basic Info

You’ll land on the token tracker page, e.g., for MDC: https://bscscan.com/token/0x69bf422871e3df997069f885475c06821cf4d381

Look at:

Field What It Tells You
Token Name / Symbol Name and ticker
Decimals How divisible the token is
Total Supply Max number of tokens ever minted
Holders Number of wallet addresses holding the token
Transfers Total number of token transfers to date

✅ 3. Click “Holders” Tab

Here you see the top holders and how much supply they own.

🔎 Why it matters:

  • If a few wallets hold a majority, the project may be centralized or vulnerable to rug pulls.

  • Look for contract addresses labeled “burn”, “liquidity pool”, or “staking” — these often aren’t real holders.

💡 Look for:

  • Top 10 holders %

  • Burn address

✅ 4. Check “Contract” Tab

This shows the smart contract source code.

  • If verified, you can read the token logic.

  • Look for token features like:

    • Reflection (auto-reward holders)

    • Burn mechanisms

    • Anti-whale limits

    • Taxes/fees on buys/sells

✅ 5. Check for Minting Functions

Under the “Read Contract” or “Write Contract” tabs:

✅ 6. Analyze the Transactions

In the “Token Transfers” section:

  • Look for suspicious patterns like huge transfers, dumps, or frequent high-fee transactions.

  • Pay attention to labels like PancakeSwap: Router, Burn address, etc.

✅ 7. Check External Links

On the token page, look for:

  • Website

  • Socials

  • Audit Report

  • Whitepaper
